 ISO 27001 is the international standard for managing information security.
Certification shows that an independent body has assessed your Information Security Management System (ISMS) against its requirements. It does not guarantee you will never suffer a breach. What it does demonstrate is that you have a structured, risk-based approach to protecting the information your business relies on. For many UK organisations, particularly those working with larger clients or competing for contracts that demand formal security assurance, ISO 27001 has become a practical business requirement as much as a compliance one. The key point is that certification is not achieved by producing a set of policies for an auditor. It requires an ISMS that reflects how the business actually operates and that can be maintained over time. |
